Miss Krug teaches kindergarten through third grade. She starts out our morning with a quick calendar and journal session. We use Daily 5 in our Language Art period. Daily 5 is a classroom structure that gives students the opportunity to develop a love of reading and writing.
Reading Wednesdays are a big hit in our classroom. Our students pick out and practice a book to read to the rest of the class.
Our kindergarten through first grade students have to opportunity to play in our dramatic play area twice a week. Dramatic play gives students the opportunity to learn through playing.
Next month the entire class will begin working on a poetry unit. We will be learning about the different parts of a poem and we will be writing some of our own poems!
Kindergarten students are rapidly reading their books and learning about wind in science class.
First grade students are currently reading some biographies in class. They have learned about John Chapman and Alexander Graham Bell. They have just finished learning about the different parts of a nonfiction book.
Second grade is learning about how communities and technology has changed throughout history.
Our third grade students are still watching their mealworms closely. So far we have had four mealworms turn into beetles. We are still anxiously waiting for the last two to change. This month we will be learning about the weather cycle. We will be watching the weather outside closely and working on our observation skills.
